Biveesh B is Head of Department at the Chitravathi Center for Creativity, the art and design department of The Velammal International School, Chennai.
Creativity as wellbeing
Under his leadership, the centre gives students a calm, creative space in the school day. They paint at easels, draw, shape clay reliefs and discuss their work together, and they show it in exhibitions open to parents and visitors. The aim is not only skill. It is expression, confidence and self-discovery.
Bringing design thinking to the studio
Biveesh is leading the school’s partnership with HCD Institute, DIC Hub, IIT Hyderabad. From the next academic year, Chitravathi will host an HCD Lab, and in November 2026 he travels with a group of Velammal students to DIC Hub, IIT Hyderabad for a five-day design thinking immersion.
