Who it's for

HR, OD and L&D leaders, founders, consultants and public-sector managers.

01

HR, OD and L&D leaders

Who want to move from running programmes to redesigning how the organisation actually works.

02

Founders and business heads

Scaling a team past the point where informal ways of working still hold.

03

Public and institutional leaders

Reforming departments, universities, hospitals and public services around the people they serve.

Curriculum

3 phases. 13 modules. One real project.

See, then design, then change. Every module mixes a live session, a studio exercise and a step of your capstone on a real organisation.

Phase 1 · Weeks 1–4

See the system

Before you change an organisation, learn to see it as it really works.

Phase 2 · Weeks 5–8

Design the organisation

Redesign the parts people feel every day.

Phase 3 · Weeks 9–12

Lead the change

Prototype change, test it small, then scale what works.

Phase 1 · Weeks 1–4

See the system.

Before you change an organisation, learn to see it as it really works.

01

Human-centred design for organisations

Why organisations are designed systems, and how HCD changes what you notice, ask and change.

02

Systems thinking and mapping

Stakeholder and ecosystem maps, feedback loops, leverage points and causal loop diagrams.

03

Organisational research

Interviews, shadowing, diaries and workplace ethnography. Evidence over opinion.

04

Behaviour at work

Behavioural science, group dynamics, power and motivation: the forces beneath the structure.

Phase 2 · Weeks 5–8

Design the organisation.

Redesign the parts people feel every day.

01

Structure, roles and decisions

Operating models, team topologies, decision rights and spans of control.

02

Employee experience

Journey maps for hiring, onboarding, growth and exit. Design moments that matter.

03

Internal services and processes

Service blueprints for the processes that slow people down, from approvals to support.

04

Culture, rituals and ways of working

Make values visible in meetings, rituals, spaces and everyday routines.

05

Work redesign with AI

Human and AI teams: which work to automate, augment or keep human, and how roles change.

Phase 3 · Weeks 9–12

Lead the change.

Prototype change, test it small, then scale what works.

01

Co-design and facilitation

Workshops and large-group methods that let people shape the change they will live with.

02

Prototyping organisational change

Pilots, role-plays and service prototypes: test a new structure before you roll it out.

03

Measuring change

Signals, metrics and sensemaking that show whether the redesign is working.

04

The practitioner as designer

Consulting craft, ethics, presence and influence. You are part of the system you are changing.

Theory and frameworks

The ideas behind organisations that work.

You'll learn the theory designers rely on, and use it on real work.

Capstone

One real brief, end to end.

You bring one real challenge from your own organisation: a team that doesn't work, a process people avoid, a culture you want to shift. Across 12 weeks you research it, map the system, design a change, prototype it with the people affected, and present the result to faculty and peers.

Anchor faculty

Led by Prof. Deepak John Mathew.

Questions

Before you reserve.

When does the next cohort start?
The next cohort starts on Saturday, 21 November 2026, right after Diwali. Seats are limited so every participant gets mentor time; use 'Reserve a place' to hold yours and we'll share the full schedule.
Is this an organisation development (OD) certification program?
Yes. It covers organisation development (organization development, in US spelling) and organisation design together: diagnosis, systems thinking, culture, change and facilitation, taught live online over 12 weeks with an optional immersion at DIC Hub, IIT Hyderabad.
How is this different from a classic OD certification?
Most OD programmes teach you to diagnose an organisation and intervene. This one adds design: you map the system, then prototype and test new structures, services and ways of working with the people affected, before you roll anything out.
Do I need a design background?
No. Most participants come from HR, L&D, management, consulting or the public sector. We teach the design methods from the start.
Is it only for HR professionals?
No. Founders, business heads, consultants and public-sector leaders join too. Mixed cohorts make for better organisation design.
Who teaches the programme?
Dr Deepak John Mathew is the anchor faculty, with mentors and guest faculty from the HCD Institute network and DIC Hub, IIT Hyderabad.
Will I get one-to-one support?
Yes. Mentor reviews of your capstone run through the programme, alongside peer critiques in studio sessions.
Can my organisation run a closed cohort?
Yes. We can run it for one organisation's leadership, HR or transformation team, using your own challenges as the capstones.
Is the programme online or on campus?
It's hybrid. Everything can be done live online, and you can add an optional immersion on campus at DIC Hub, IIT Hyderabad.
What certificate do I receive?
A certificate from HCD Institute and DIC Hub, IIT Hyderabad, on completing the sessions and your project.
How do I join?
Use 'Reserve a place'. We'll confirm the next cohort dates, the format and the next steps.
